Cannabis is growing in legality across the U.S. People are cultivating it at rates we never thought possible. People are also learning of its medicinal benefits. It has been prescribed for a host of conditions such as glaucoma, depression, anxiety, pain, seizures and more. It has proven to be highly effective at replacing highly addictive and detrimental opioids.  If we could replace opioids with a non-addictive and natural resource such as cannabis, we could potentially end the Opioid epidemic.  Recently, I have been researching the benefits it carries to pregnant people. We have been for centuries been using herbal medicines for a number of ailments, and cannabis is no different. However, it carries quite a heavy stigma from years of propaganda.

Many people do not know the gravity and extraordinary powers of herbal medicines.  With big pharma's stronghold on the government, it has concealed the value of one of the best herbal alternative medicines.  A plant.  Propaganda has long concealed the truth behind this magical plant, and stigmatized it without properly evaluating it's medicinal properties.

Cannabis is the tree of life, brought forth by God himself.  It balances homeostasis and replaces harmful and risky opioids, analgesics, and other pharmaceuticals.  It is a natural renewable resource, providing more value and more therapeutic benefits, threatening Big Pharmaceuticals that are non-renewable or sustainable.  Big Pharma has every reason to continue perpetuating the propaganda, illicitness,  and stigma attached to cannabis.  It's because most of their most expensive and prescribed medications can be replaced by cannabis, at a much lower risk factor.  It can be grown in your backyard; replaced without immense profit, gatekeeping, and exploitation pharmaceutical companies rely on.  Thus, their money keeps lobbying anti-cannabis campaigns and bills.  This keeps non-violent cannabis consumers at risk for greater incarceration rates, hurting families, and stimulating a diversion of from the untapped potentials & greater benefits of cannabis.

If we could replace opioids in this country and fund our schools with cannabis harvesting and utilization, why wouldn't we?  Stigma still takes center stage, rooted in racism and mass incarceration, and its our job to educate and reform the perspective on holistic cannabis use.  It's time to take control of our health from natural resources that provide relief and much less risk factors.

Cannabis is extremely effective for treating hyperemesis gravidarum. Some pregnant people have reported that it saved their lives or their baby’s lives from extreme effects of this conditions. It is a very effective anti-nausea medication. It stimulates appetite and gives pain relief. With the new widespread cultivation of cannabis, they have discovered many different ways to consume cannabis, aside from smoking it. From edible chocolates to tinctures, there are now ways of using it without filling your lungs. This is highly beneficial to pregnant people.

Unfortunately, due to the federal criminalization of cannabis in the country, studies are extremely limited.

The Primary use for Medical Cannabis in Pregnancy: Hyperemesis Gravidarum

-Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) is a complication during pregnancy that is characterized by severe nausea, vomiting, weight loss, and possibly dehydration that can lead to so many other issues, including loss of pregnancy and can be life threatening to the birthing person.

-Providers can prescribe medication but some pregnant people prefer and benefit more from the use of cannabis.

-Many will describe the use of cannabis during pregnancy as life saving for the birther and baby.

Some providers support and suggest the use of cannabis during pregnancy due to its effectiveness and some providers warn against it.

-If you are a black birthing person, it’s important to know that the racism that happens in the system makes you more vulnerable to random drug testing and CPS involvement.

There are many ways to consume cannabis and @bluedreambirth says:

“From nausea and vomiting all ten months, to insomnia, relying on cannabis has been crucial to my everyday appetite and stomach ease.”
